One more gaming night before it’s time to wish you a merry Christmas and a happy new year. If you haven’t escaped the city/country yet (or even if you have – this is a valid enough excuse to travel), the 18th door of the advent calendar contains lots of fun games to play in good company. As usual, the event starts at 5 PM in Turku-sali.
Looks like Christmas is approaching fast, and even ANC is getting into the holiday groove. The first hangout of December also acts as our own pre-Christmas party, which, among other things, means warm glögi drink and gingerbread cookies for everyone. Another important yearly ritual is the Paavo-style Game Music Quiz, and this year is no exception. Feel free to bring your own snacks and drinks, either potluck style or even just for yourself if you don’t feel like sharing. And if you’ve got ideas for fun and games, feel free to suggest or arrange something fun.

November brings with it the championship tourney, but before that here’s something a bit more casual. Come to think of it, you could argue that visiting the gaming night counts as prepping for the championships, since who knows: maybe the tourney will give you the chance to show your skills in that very favorite game of yours. In any case, you should totally come, even just for fun. The event begins in Turku-sali at 5PM, as usual.
The Angry Video Game Nerd… He’s (still) the angriest gamer you’ve ever heard¹, and once again we’ll gather to watch his antics, this time in the Campus Chapel. And don’t worry if you missed the first marathon! Each episode is a self-standing review, where the Nerd typically tears into some of the game industry’s worst creations. In a very explicit style, too, so the most sensitive viewers might want to prepare with a pair of earplugs. And maybe a blindfold for some scenes, too.

Spoopy halloween to everyone! To honor the occasion, ANC and SHO will be watching the first Silent Hill movie, based on Konami’s popular game series by the same name. Prepare for creeping horror and scary geometrical head shapes, but thankfully in very friendly company, at least. The duration of the movie is ~2 hours, and the age rating is 16 years or older.
The movie night starts at Student Nation SHO’s hangout room next to terrakoti at 5PM.
Let’s just slap another gaming night at the end of October, shall we? All of ANC:s hardware will once again be available for some fun and games in Turku-sali starting at 5PM. Everybody join in!
The Finnish championship of academic Nintendo gaming is finally here again! Come test your skills and fight for the championship title in this highly challenging tournament. There’s no fee for attending or taking part, so you should by all means drop by to at least spectate and enjoy the atmosphere.
Further details of the tournament’s nature will be shared during the coming month, but the basic formula is tried and true: during the day, the skills of the contestants will be put to the test in various games, all played on Nintendo consoles, and as evening falls the very best of the best will face off against each other in the final round, to see who’s the most deserving of the championship title.
The venue for the tournament will once again be HIVE, Turku Game Hub, located in the 3rd floor of Pharma City, at Itäinen Pitkäkatu 4, Turku

The event begins at noon, and the qualifying rounds begin at 2:00 PM. It usually takes until late in the evening to reach the final round, so reserving the whole day for gaming is recommended if you want to participate.

Here comes October’s first gaming night for your enjoyment. You probably know the drill by now: There’s a a whole lot of consoles and quality games piled up in Turku-sali, and everyone enthusiastic is welcome to join in. We’ll begin, as always at 5PM.
Here to cheer up your dark autumn evenings is September’s gaming night no. 2. This time we’re co-operating with Asteriski, the student organization for computer science students, which means the gaming and fun times will be even grander than usual, so don’t miss this one.
